SPAM manifesto
(SPinozistic Abstruse Manifestation)
This text was produced to help a group of students in Dijon (memebers
of the "Yaourt Sauvage" (= "wild yogurt") to prepare a spontaneous
split opposing Spinoza followers to Kant faithfuls. You may find the French
version.
The free man knows no duty and no god.
PROPOSITION 1
Spinoza is very clear as a philosopher and he is not a bore.
DEMONSTRATION
We want to be free men, and Spinoza sets men free from transendency: his god
is not the Judeo-Christian God, but the variety of what exists, as a whole.
There is neither Good nor Bad: values are man-made. We aspire to be subversive
and revolutionary too.
SCOLIE 1
As an atheist Jew he was excommunicated by the synagogue, and he was the victim
of persecutions from both the religious society and all other kind of zealots.
Blamed for treachery because he was a democrat, held in contempt by the supporters
of political correctness, he persevered with his being a writer; lead to be
defiant
toward his contemporaries he coded his work, so that only a mature humanity
may easily decipher its well-wrought language.
SCOLIE 2
As we all do, Spinoza has noticed the vanity of our existences. But instead of
condemning them, he looks for a way to free them through reflection. He values
the desire and the body - Spinoza actually embodies philosophy, in every way.
PROPOSITION 2
The SPAM asserts that the journey to become aware and to refuse the vanity of our empirical ordinary lives is efficiently initiated by awaking to Spinoza's philosophy.
DEMONSTRATION
He enters into the very construction of a valid (true) life as he challenges
human servitude.
There is no evil in desiring (only passivity in desire is to be refused), the
very material of emancipation is working on and by desires.
CORROLARIES
Spinoza is a running spring of thinking and reflection; he can be a pain in the
neck but he means no harm: for instance he is opposed to nuclear tests. Though he
tries to make us believe that everything in Nature is necessary, his
achievements prove freedom to be true.
